When a woman was ‘raped’ by a cop and later tried to cover it up, she was silenced, says feminist icon Carol Dweck

Author Carol DWeck’s book A Woman and Her Cop: A Rape in the American City traces the story of a woman who was repeatedly raped by a Chicago police officer, and who in 2013 sued the city for her ordeal.

Dwecks’ book, written in 2008, recounts how the victim came forward with her story in 2013 and was repeatedly harassed by police officers.

In one particularly harrowing incident, a woman accused the police officer of raping her while she was handcuffed, a claim the police department denied.

She later sued the department, alleging the police violated her civil rights, as well as violating her constitutional rights, the AP reported.

DWEck is a professor of law at the University of Texas, Austin, and a regular contributor to The American Conservative.
